Either way, the Vintage Ninja Turtles and Vanilla Ice appear to be more than willing to embrace Out of the Shadows when it finally comes to theaters next month. If everything falls into place for distributor Paramount Pictures, perhaps the latest Bay-produced feature film production based on a popular property of the '80s will fare well, and Out of the Shadows will be a better adaptation of the original TMNT property then the preceding film from 2014 was. He is also known for his work in the TMNT franchise and is currently the writer of one of IDWs most nostalgic series, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Saturday Morning Adventures, which revives one of the earliest (and arguably most popular) eras of the beloved Heroes in a Half-Shell. Vanilla Ice is a 90s' rapper whose role in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze is both well-known and maligned. Given his history with the franchise, Vanilla Ice's inclusion at the world premiere of Out of the Shadows seems only fitting given the surrounding context of the film event in question. He has a large tattoo on his leg featuring the TMNT logo from the 1987 TV series and 1990s movies along with a rendering of the Turtles from the poster of The Secret of the Ooze, his favorite of the films. Secret of the Ooze hit theaters in 1991, Vanilla Ice’s performance of Ninja Rap was just as much of a highlight as of the movie as the wisecracking. In the years since comic book creators Eastman and Laird first thought up the concept behind TMNT as an overt satire of writer Frank Miller's then contemporary Ronin comic book run, the Ninja Turtles have become a household name even outside of martial arts-inspired genre fare fans.
