The goofiness of this is made especially apparent in split-screen, as players have to sit and watch two versions of the same exact cut-scene play out on top of each other, instead of the game going to full-screen for such scenes like basically every other split-screen shooter ever made. The big draw for the campaign in this year's entry was the addition of 4-player co-op, but instead of playing as different characters, everyone controls the same character. This slog of a campaign is how players unlock the excellent Nightmares mode, so unfortunately it can't just be ignored like past Call of Duty campaigns. The story is about as nonsensical as they come, and despite removing the "follow me" icon as promised, the levels feel just as suffocating as ever before.
